The Otavalo Indians are one of the most prosperous groups in Ecuador and have maintained their cultural identity and traditional dress for generation after generation.
Itinerary
Otavalo Indigenous Market
Early morning, we'll set out for the Ecuadorian highlands, heading straight to Cuicocha Lake. Cuicocha is a dormant crater lake located in the Western Cordillera, 25 km west of Otavalo and at the foot of the extinct volcano of the same name. At the lake, we'll embark on a short hike whilst learning about the orchids, hummingbirds and other exotic birds of the region. After a delicious lunch we'll head on to Otavalo's Poncho Plaza where you can shop for local crafts and handmade weavings and sweaters in Latin America’s second largest indigenous market. We'll arrive back to Quito in time for dinner.
Lunch included.
